About Us

At Mackenzie Architects International, we bring together more than a century of combined industry experience. Our mission is simple: to transform your vision into a building that reflects your environment, meets your needs, and feels uniquely yours.

Our Design Culture
Every project begins with collaboration. We work side by side with our clients, exploring possibilities, researching solutions, and fostering an open environment where ideas can flow freely. Our architects remain hands-on throughout the entire journey, supported by a network of trusted specialists who share our commitment to excellence.
Sustainability at the Core
We believe great design should also be responsible design. That’s why sustainable building practices have always been at the heart of what we do. From materials selection to energy performance, we align with partners who share our values and aim for outcomes that go beyond industry benchmarks. With deep expertise in the Green Star rating system, we continuously push to raise the bar for environmental performance.

Capitalising on the Unique Qualities

With more than three decades of experience, Dugald has shaped a diverse practice spanning architecture, urban design, master planning, and development analysis. His career reflects a rare combination of design vision, technical expertise, and leadership.

Early in his career, he mastered every stage of the architectural process—from concept through construction—while coordinating consultants, managing on-site delivery, and working closely with councils and state government. By the late 1980s and early 1990s, he was already leading significant design management projects across NSW, including the landmark International Convention Centre.

In 1993, Dugald founded his own practice. Since then, he has delivered distinctive contemporary residences and innovative commercial developments that have been featured in leading design publications. His portfolio demonstrates not only award-winning design outcomes but also a sustained contribution to the broader architectural debate and forward-thinking industry initiatives.

A strong advocate for talent and collaboration, Dugald has built a studio culture that is both progressive and supportive—a place where bright, creative minds thrive and grow.

Beyond practice, he is an active voice in the profession, regularly contributing to forums, advisory panels, and education. His influence extends into shaping policy, mentoring future architects, and fostering progressive approaches to design.
